A few words from Chloe…
Happy Hollydays wonderful zine folks!
In the Henderson house, we are not ones for religion, so Christmas is all about coming together as a family and celebrating our small traditions… this year is going to be a bit different. Stuart and I are in a sort of bubble with my parents, and my brother, and his girlfriend. So, it is likely we will be able to spend Christmas together – depending on what the lockdown rules are by then – and hopefully with my grandparents as well.
It is all a tad weird this year. We have just moved into a new house, so I am not feeling hugely festive at the moment! My life is all cardboard boxes, and organising all my art things! I am writing this on the 1st of December, and I am super excited to find the box with our tree and decorations in it so I can get into the festive spirit! And just in time for our first ever Coin-Operated Press Christmas Zine Fair! I have loved setting up the [virtual] fair on our website and putting this festive zine together. Even though we are virtual, it has reminded me just how important it is for us all to come together for art… even if it is socially distanced!!
We hope to see you in person in the New Year.
Until then, shop small, stay safe, and hae a blythe yule!
A few words from Katie…
I got into the festive spirit SUPER early this year! I think we needed to bring some extra cheer to our house since we’ve been in various stages of lock-down for 9 months by now!!
So by mid-November, we had the tree up in the Dundee Coin-Op house, and all of the Christmas shopping was done by 1st December!!
I shopped small, independent, and all online this year. As well as being covid-safe, this was also way less stressful than in the before times! It was also a more eco-friendly way to shop – and meant I supported people who really needed it. I’ve also been working on a special DIY art project for my 3-year-old niece’s Christmas present…I want to keep it a surprise, but I’ll tell you more about it soon!
I think this early festive buzz was fueled by the very first Coin-Op zine fair. The virtual fair was held on 5th & 6th December – and we had been planning and preparing for WEEKS! I was very happy to put my Project Manager hat on again!! I hope you all had a wonderful time at the Coin-Operated Press virtual zine fair…we can’t wait to see your faces in person!!
